Laura Hefner

Laura’s journey to FCF is a testament to her diverse experiences and commitment to public health. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, she embarked on her academic journey at Northwestern University, where she earned a degree in Social Policy and French. Following graduation, Laura ventured to Washington, D.C., where she immersed herself in the field of healthcare at the American Society of Nephrology for two years. Fueled by her interest in public health, she recently added a Master of Public Health degree from Emory University to her accolades.
At FCF, Laura’s role on the research team is multifaceted. She spearheads the administration of research grants, oversees the Data Commons project, and plays a pivotal role in updating the FA Clinical Care Guidelines. Beyond these duties, Laura helps develop programs for scientific events and effectively communicates FCF’s scientific impact to stakeholders.
Having traversed the Midwest, Northeast, and South, Laura now calls Eugene, Oregon, home. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys staying active, indulging in a good read, and taking in the beauty of the outdoors.
