The structure of nucleic acids and proteins that carries genetic information that is found in the nucleus of most living cells. Most humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, including 1 pair of sex chromosomes (females have two ‘X’ sex chromosomes; males have one ‘X’ and one ‘Y’ sex chromosome).
